never saw haimei for a long time and i like her smile! (:

watched The Happening. A movie that I would never expect myself to choose. Actually none of us did. Since the girls didn't want to watch hulk, and jensen didn't want to watch penolope (or sth like that) then we settled on that. Some scenes were as gross as those in Final Destination (still remember that horrid experience), with people killing themselves anywhere, under any circumstances, after being influcend by some toxin given off by the plants who felt that they were threatened by human prescence. Instead of relieving stress i think the movie sort of had the exact opposite influence. but talking afterwards was nice. Jensen's funny comments made us laugh. A lot.
remember seeing somewhere that through the years major blockbusters and movies tend to reflect certain societal concerns. with alien invasion symbolising the fear for overpowering of communism, and the movies nowadays reflecting concerns about terrorism and new threats like scientific development. Sure, the message was strong enough in this one -- everyone pays the price for the mistreatments inflicted upon the planet. And you think it's the end with just the east coast of one state affected? obviously no! As one 'scientist' commented at the end "i think it was like a warning, you know, the first spot in a rash". and sure enough his predictions came true too soon, with people committing mass suicide in France.
well.. adverse environmental effects to the extent of plants taking actions to wipe out humans? Highly impossible now but you never know. after all you have to acknowledge the fact that "there's always some force out there that humans can't explain." or can't fight against.
And Nature, is just one of them.
